Royal Oak Principal Charged With Embezzlement
ROYAL OAK (CBS Detroit) Royal Oak High School Principal Michael Greening was arraigned Friday on felony embezzlement charges.
Greening was put on administrative leave in December after money went missing from a student activity fund that collected money for things like the Homecoming Dance. After a lengthy investigation by Royal Oak police, he was charged Friday afternoon in 44th District Court with two counts of embezzling anywhere between a thousand and $20,000.
Greening was released on a $50,000 bond, but ordered to stay in Michigan. His next court appearance will be April 27.
Former Birmingham principal Jim Moll stepped in and received a hearty reception from parents at a basketball game in January, amid the investigation into Greening.
Greening, considered popular in the district, was with Royal Oak schools about 15 years. He was placed on leave in mid-December.
Royal Oak police reported they were looking into several years of accounting statements for the Student Activities Fund
