Rotating the Rotation
ROB SANFORD
One of the Tiger's biggest strengths last season was its starting pitching...but in 2010 there are question marks. 3 starters are already in the rotation Justin Verlander, Rick Porcello, and Dan Scherzer. That leaves 2 more spots to fill between Nate Robertson, Jeremy Bonderman and Dontrelle Willis. Both Robertson and Willis have had solid number so far this year in spring training....and after geing bombed in his first outing...Bonderman looks like he's coming around. Another name in the mix is Armando Galarraga....who had a miserable season last year, but says he feels good this spring. But his numbers so far don't seem to indicate it. The bullpen has the potential to be a strength of the team...Ryan Perry, Joel Zumaya, Fu Ni, Zach Minor, Phil Coke, and Jose Valverde..who has yet to allow an earned run this spring. I still think the team's pitching will be ok...but another new acquisition, Dan Schlereth has really been struggling. In my opinion....it's going to be the offense and defense that will be the big concern in 2010.
