Rick Porcello, Austin Jackson, Andy Dirks Avoid Arbitration

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - Of six arbitration-eligible players for the Detroit Tigers, three are now locked up. Per MLB.com's Jason Beck, Andy Dirks, Austin Jackson and Rick Porcello have all come to terms with the Tigers.
Porcello will get $8.5 million in 2014, Jackson will earn $6 million, and Dirks will receive $1.625 million.
The 24-year-old Porcello won 13 games in 2013 and finished with a 4.32 ERA. Center fielder Austin Jackson hit .272 last season. Jackson's most recent impression on fans was not a good one, striking out so often in the playoffs that then-manager Jim Leyland moved him from leadoff to the eighth spot, a role in which Jackson instantly hit better. Dirks, a left-handed left fielder, will be part of a platoon that also includes Don Kelly and newly acquired Rajai Davis.
For the Tigers, remaining arbitration-eligible players are relief pitcher Al Alburquerque, catcher Alex Avila and starting pitcher Max Scherzer, who won 21 games and finished 2013 with a 2.90 ERA.
