Retired Deputy Recovering From Stab Wound After Surprising Intruders In His Home
WARREN (WWJ) - A retired Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy is recovering from a stab wound, by an intruder.
Warren police say the man and his wife had just returned to their home on Hughes, near 12 Mile and Van Dyke Monday afternoon, when they found two strangers in the house.
The retired officer chased one of the teens and tried to restrain him. The homeowner then fired his gun, but didn't hit the intruders.
Police arrived a few minutes later, and caught the two suspects running through the neighborhood.
Authorities say they were in possession of stolen property, including war medals.
The teens are in custody and are expected to appear for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
The homeowner was taken to St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital for treatment.
