Reporting Issues In The City Can Now Be Done With 'Improve Detroit' App

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's a new high-tech way to report problems to city officials in Detroit.

Mayor Mike Duggan, standing with his team of department heads Wednesday, announced the launch of "Improve Detroit" a new cell phone app that allows anyone to notify the city of a problem.

"Whether it's an illegal dump site, whether it's water running in a basement, whether it's a fire-hydrant not working, whether it's a pothole, whether it's a light pole down, we've got a thousand different issues that you can go and report," said Duggan.

Duggan says the app, which has been in the works for almost five months, wasn't the difficult part:

"I don't want to say the IT side of it was easy but it was the easier part - because it's one thing to get an app to allow you to report a problem it's another thing to have the team here actually go out there and fix it when it's reported."
