Red Wings Thank Fans, Plan Free Outdoor Practice

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's a first for the Detroit Red Wings; an outdoor practice, and everyone's invited.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Paul Snider reports that as part of their ongoing Hockeytown Thanks appreciation, the Red Wings will hold an outdoor skate Saturday, February 18, at Clark Park, on Detroit's southwest side.

The one-hour skate gets underway at noon, with gates opening at 11 a.m.

Admission is one of the following: Canned goods to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank, used hockey equipment or a two-dollar donation to support the Clark Park Coalition.

Parking will be free at a couple of area schools with shuttle service to the park.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, the Wings will skate indoors at Joe Louis Arena.
