Public Invited To Meeting On State Recycling Plans
LANSING (AP) — State officials invite the public to a meeting of the Governor's Recycling Council, which was formed as part of a goal to double Michigan's recycling rate.
The meeting scheduled for Jan. 14 at Constitution Hall in Lansing will include a public comment period. The nine-member panel was formed to advise the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality on ways to boost recycling.
Gov. Rick Snyder announced a plan in April to double the state's residential recycling rate to 30 percent within the next two years.
The DEQ is offering grants during fiscal year 2015 to nonprofit organizations, local and tribal governments, health departments and others to assist communities with launching recycling efforts.
