"Project 14" Details Still Being Worked Out

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Mayor Dave Bing's staff is still working out the details of "Project 14" which will offer incentives to entice police officers to move back into the city.  But, Detroit Council President Pro Tem Gary Brown says the details should have been worked out before the program was unveiled to the public.

"You go into Boston/Edison utility costs, taxes, insurance; both cars and vehicles, along with school systems in which they send their kids, I mean, they can't afford private schools, they can't afford the taxes, the insurance and utility costs, and the house is in Boston/Edison and in so many other parts of the city," says Councilwoman Brenda Jones.

Bing's staff says, so far, about two hundred police officers have inquired about the pilot program in the Boston/Edison and East English Village communities.
