President Obama Puts In "Get Well" Call To Detroit Mayor
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Mayor Bing remains hospitalized and apparently he has received a get well wish from a big VIP.
WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports that Detroit Mayor Dave Bing received a get well message from President Obama Friday.
A spokesperson says that the President spoke to him for about five minutes on the phone.
Bing put out a message on Twitter Friday afternoon that said, "Thank You President Barack Obama for calling & well wishes."
The mayor was re-admitted to Henry Ford Hospital Wednesday and is receiving treatment for acute pulmonary embolism in each lung.
The mayor underwent surgery for a perforated colon a week ago and felt some "discomfort" earlier this week.
There's no word on when Bing will be released from the hospital.
