Pat Caputo: How Lions Respond To Loss Is Ultimate Test
And so the Lions have lost a game.
The NFL's version of Cinderella hasn't had its glass slipper shattered, but it has been chipped.
Just when everybody was talking about the Lions as the NFL's next premier team, the San Francisco 49ers came to Ford Field and immediately grabbed the moniker for themselves.
The 49ers are now the talk of the league.
Thing about the NFL is, though, they don't stop the season after six games and hand out any trophies.
The Lions have a long history of mediocrity. You must go deep into the record books to recall the last time they've have excellent starts. They were 6-2 in 2007. They didn't make the playoffs. They were 6-2 in 1999. They finished 8-8 — although they did make the playoffs and were subsequently blown out by the Redskins. The 1991 Lions were 6-2. They actually won a playoff — the Lions' only postseason triumph since 1957.
