Parkmobile Rolls Out Pay By Phone Parking In Dearborn

Atlanta, Ga.-based Parkmobile USA Inc. is rolling out a system that will let people use mobile phones to pay for parking at meters in Dearborn's west downtown district.

Phase one of the program will begin in metered Lot H, located at West Village Drive between Mason and Monroe, south of Michigan Avenue.

To use the new Parkmobile system, customers register for free at www.parkmobile.com. Once registered, motorists can use a mobile app, the internet, or a toll free phone call, (800) 280-4146 to pay for parking.

After setting up the account, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone. Motorists can also select the option to receive text message alerts and reminders 15 minutes before their time expires.

Said Dearborn Mayor John B. O'Reilly Jr.: "We want to deliver services for the way people live their lives now, and phone applications are a big part of that."

Added Dearborn city councilman and city Parking Advisory Commission chair Mark Shooshanian: "We are always looking for ways to be more customer friendly."

Parkmobile preisdent and CEO of Albert Bogaard noted that "With this technology, customers no longer have to search for change or estimate the time needed at their destination. The pay by phone service is an example of another technology that can make our lives easier and more efficient."

Parking in Lot H is 50 cents an hour. There is a transaction fee of 35 cents for using the convenience of the pay by phone system, or customers can choose to pay a flat rate of $3 (transaction fee is included) to park from 5 p.m. to closing.
