Odds Of Hitting A Deer While Driving In Michigan? Higher Than You Think!

DETROIT (WWJ) - Look around the crowded room. It's likely that you or one of the people in that room will hit a deer while driving.

New data from State Farm finds that Michigan drivers are 14 percent more likely to collide with a deer than they were last year.

That's based on claims filed with the auto insurer.

The odds drivers will hit a deer in Michigan are 1 out of 85, about twice as high as the national odds.  Michigan ranked eighth among U.S. states for car-deer crashes -- West Virginia was first.

November, October, and December are the most hard-hitting months for such accidents.
