NFL Punishes Lions For Tampering

You might remember that the Chiefs filed tampering charges against the Lions in December after former Kansas City defensive coordinator and current Detroit defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham made comments about wanting to pick up Chiefs players and bring them to Detroit.

As Foxsports.com writes, the NFL today ruled Detroit did, in fact, tamper with Kansas City's players, including having "impermissible contact with a player (or his agent) under contract to the Chiefs."

The punishment for the Lions includes Detroit losing its 2011 seventh round Draft pick – which originally was acquired from the Broncos – and giving up its fifth round pick (No. 9) in exchange for Kansas City's fifth-round pick (No. 23).

The Lions have until the end of the month to file an appeal of the punishment.
