Neighbor Catches Thieves In The Act
YPSILANTI TWP. (WWJ) - In Ypsilanti Township, a homeowner catches two would-be thieves in the act -- and keeps them in check until police arrive.
It happened Saturday night at a home on Harry Street, near I-94 and Harris Road.
Police said a man caught two people breaking into his neighbor's home. He ordered them to sit outside by the patio door until police arrived, which is exactly what they did.
A window was broken but police don't think anything was stolen.
Eighteen-year-old Dezman Makowski-Smith and 17-year-old Donte Smith were arrested and charged with home invasion and destruction of property.
