Missing Veteran Found Safe In Troy

TROY (WWJ) - A 59-year-old veteran has been found safe days after he went missing following a cancelled appointment at a hospital in Detroit.

Troy police contacted the Macomb County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday to inform them that Richard Furdock was found safe at a church in their community.

Furdock, who suffers from mental illness, walked away from the Veteran's Administration Hospital on John R in Detroit after a cancelled appointment Monday morning. Officials at Furdock's  group home in New Haven contacted police after he failed to return later that day.

Police say Furdock has now been safely returned to his home in New Haven.
