Michigan Will Prove A Lot With A Win Against Utah!

Michigan hoops gets back to action Friday night against Utah at Crisler Arena with a chance to prove the critics wrong, at least for the time being. Starting the season nobody expected the Wolverines to be 6-2 through 8 games but they are and a win against the Utes would send a message that the Maze and Blue might be a lot better than anybody expected. Some of the examples that the Wolverines are legit could be beating Clemson on the road and losing to 7th ranked Syracuse at a neutral site by just 3 points. Junior Stu Douglas, when asked why this team is off to a quick start, said "I think our eagerness to shut people up and prove that we can play together [has something to do with it]." Douglas didn't want to talk too much about the team's goals from the start of the season to now saying "I try to just stay away from my expectations from this year and trying not to put any expectations on this team, I'm not completely surprised by what we have done so far but it has been a little bit of a pleasant surprise especially for the fans, just the kind of growth we made is a pleasant surprise."

As far as Utah is concerned, the Utes are 6-2 and are on a 3 game win streak. Michigan Head Coach John Beilein knows exactly the tough test ahead for his team saying "they know they have a big challenge, if you are going to try in your non conference you need to win these games. Also at home, we have a lot of pride and weren't very proud of our home record last year, so we are trying to do a better job." Beilein chatted about what the biggest challenge would be for the Wolverines on Friday night saying "our biggest concern with them is their big kid [David] Foster, he is incredible! I never seen a guy average 4 points a game and have such an impact on a game." Utah averages 73 points a contest compared to the 67 they give up to the opposition. Catch the game on WOMC starting at 6:30PM.
