Michigan man, 48, dies in head-on crash in Frenchtown Township

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a head-on collision on Monday morning that left one man dead.

Deputies responded to the crash sometime after 10 a.m. on N. Telegraph Road, northeast of Hurd Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 48-year-old man from Flat Rock was driving a gray 2010 Ford Escape southwest on N. Telegraph. The sheriff's office says the man was driving around the curve when he traveled left of center and struck a red 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ head-on.

The 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac, an 83-year-old man from Monroe, was taken to a hospital and was listed in serious condition.

The sheriff's office says the airbags in both vehicles deployed during the crash, and both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Investigators say intoxication does not appear to be a factor.
