Mayor Bing Asks City Council For Help With Union Concessions
Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has finally made a move on his authority to impose benefit and wage cuts on AFSCME members. He's asking city council to authorize cuts on forestry, crossing guards and emergency service operators.
Bing's request to council prompted nearly a dozen union representatives to speak out at the council internal operations standing committee on Wednesday.
Council wants to find out first if the groups are included under the AFSCME master agreement before acting on the Mayor's request.
