Man, Teenager, Juvenile Arrested In Roseville Craigslist Robberies

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - Roseville police say three Detroit residents are in custody following a series of robberies allegedly plotted via Craigslist.

A 20-year old, 17-year old and a juvenile were arrested Monday night following an undercover set-up near Gratiot Avenue and 13 Mile Road.

Detectives were investigating a number of prior incidents involving three suspects who were robbing people they met through the online classified website Craigslist. Police say the suspects would advertise a vehicle for sale, only to rob the potential buyer.

When investigators discovered that the same suspects were apparently offering a vehicle for sale on Monday, detectives made contact by phone and arranged a meeting at a location in Roseville for 11:30 p.m.

When the suspect arrived at the location and approached the undercover detective, other officers moved in. Two of the suspects were taken into custody at the scene. The third drove off in a vehicle the suspects arrived in, but was taken into custody a short time later. A handgun was also recovered during the incident.

Police believe the suspects have carried out similar robberies in Roseville and Eastpointe.

The case remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
