Four people were taken into custody after an armed robbery investigation in Warren, Michigan, that was connected to a meetup arranged through a dating app.

"There is no current threat to the public; however, this is still a very active and open investigation," the Warren Police Department said in a press release.

The armed robbery happened in the area of 12 Mile and Van Dyke Roads.

About 1:49 a.m. Monday, the report said, officers were called to the area and spoke with an adult male victim. He explained that he was instructed to go to what turned out to be a vacant residence near 12 Mile and Lund under the pretense of a date arranged online; and to call the female once he arrived.

After meeting her at his vehicle, she led him into the home and instructed him to wait in a bedroom while she used the bathroom.

While he was waiting for her, two male suspects entered the bedroom, displayed firearms and demanded the victim's personal property. The two then are accused of assaulting the victim with a firearm and ran off, leaving the victim in the bedroom.

"Eventually, the victim was able to climb out the bedroom window of the residence and contact 911," the police report said.

Police officers who were checking the area found what may have been the suspects' vehicle parked nearby at 12 Mile and Lund. Officers then saw multiple people run off and enter a home on Lund Road.

After police were unable to contact the individuals, the Warren Police Department Special Response Team was called on site. SRT staff eventually forced their way into that home where three males and one female were taken into custody without injury or further incident.

Investigators also seized additional evidence associated with this investigation; and plan to present the case to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office. The Warren Police Department asks that anyone with additional information on the case contact Det. C. Rexford at 586-574-4790.
