Man Hits Police Chief With Phone
An 84-year-old man could face assault charges for allegedly hitting Eastpointe's police chief in the head with a mobile phone, following a city council meeting Tuesday.
Police say Frank Zundl hit Chief Michael Lauretti in the forehead, as the chief attempted to remove the man from City Hall.
"The only way I can describe it was like a tomahawk chop," Eastpointe Deputy Police Chief Leo Borowsky told the Detroit News.
Lauretti had a cut on his head and was being examined by a doctor Wednesday.
Zundl's family isn't commenting.
