Drive-By Shooting On Lodge Appears Random
DETROIT (WWJ) - A man is in the hospital after being shot while driving along an area freeway.
It happened at around 3:30 a.m. Friday on the northbound Lodge north of the Davison.
Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. David Robertson said two vehicles were involved.
"The victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle, indicated that a gold-colored '05, '06 Malibu pulled up to the right side of the vehicle and then kinda went back into the blind spot and then he said all he heard was about 8 0r 9 shots being discharged toward the vehicle," Robertson said.
The passenger, reportedly a 33-year-old man, was shot twice.
The victim and the driver of the car were on their way home from work at the time of the incident. They told police they had no idea what may have provoked the shooting.
"They had no previous incidents, no altercations, no road rage, no incident prior to the shooting that would make somebody believe it was (anything) other than a random shooting," Robertson said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact State Police.
