Local Photographer Captures Spooky Detroit
[photogallerylink id=38702 align=left]Packard Plant, the long-dormant auto factory on Detroit's east side, has all the makings of a haunted locale. A bustling factory that once produced luxury vehicles is now a structure run-down from frequent fires and floods.
WWJ's Vickie Thomas went down to the spooky scene with local photographer and owner of Pixel Perfect Lance Rosol, an urban explorer who is inspired by what he sees in the old Packard Plant.
Rosol discovered the site of his photographs by chance.
"What happened was I drove up, and I saw that there were these boats that were kind of sticking out, and I was wondering why are there boats here? So I walked inside," he said.
The inside the building has a lot of sites to take in. According to Rosol, "It's almost like an art gallery walking through there."
The building has graffiti on almost every wall that spans across the decades since it was abandoned over 50 years ago.
Rosol, who has taken photos across the United States remembers an important inspiration four years ago in Detroit. "It was something that started when I saw the old Detroit train station, and thought that was a really fascinating building," he said.
Since then Rosol's urban exploration has produced some haunting and beautiful images of Detroit. Click on the gallery above.
