DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The competition was strong Wednesday for the Live Downtown Games including events like the sack race, hippity-hop and hula-hooping at DTE Headquarters in Detroit.
The team at DTE Energy walked off with first place honors, but Jenna Rice from Blue Cross Blue Shield was proud of her team's performance.
"I loved the competition, it was awesome, my team was great, I want to give a shout-out to Katie for carrying us through the hula-hoop competition ... and we came in second place - so we moved up four spots," beamed Rice.
LaKesha Sledge with DTE was part of the team that came in first and barely had a voice left to speak afterward:
"We are so excited ... it was a lot of fun today and my adrenaline is still pumping," she said.
The games celebrate the anniversary of Live Downtown. The five-year, more than $4 million program seeks to increase density by offering financial incentives to people who work downtown to invest in homes in nearby neighborhoods.
