Lions Place Pettigrew, Fuller On PUP List

The Lions announced this morning that they have placed tight end Brandon Pettigrew and wide receiver Corey Fuller on the reserve/physically unable to perform list to start the season. The team also released cornerback Brandon McGee.

The three moves knocked the Lions' roster down to 75 players ahead of today's 4 p.m. deadline.

By being placed on the PUP list, both Pettigrew and Fuller are ineligible to play in the first six games of the season. That could put the Lions in quite the bind at tight end, with Eric Ebron's status for Week 1 unclear and Andrew Quarless suspended through Week 4. Veteran TE Matthew Mulligan was released yesterday.

Should Ebron be forced to sit out, it's likely the Lions will start an undrafted rookie at tight end - either Cole Wick or Adam Fuehne.

Pettigrew, a strong blocker with some pass-catching ability, is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last December. Fuller broke his foot during OTAs and underwent surgery shortly thereafter.
