IS IT ME….OR IS SUMMER FLYING BY??
ROB SANFORD
It seems like it was just a few weeks ago that we started the baseball season, and all of a sudden I look up and see the All Star break is just ahead. I know everyone says as you get older, the faster the time goes. It may seem to be that way, but I'd rather think that it's because I'm busy at work, worrying about my 2-grown up daughters, and cleaning out my wife's cats litter boxes. I still think it's amazing that you can get a kitten from the shelter....,.show it where the litter box is and that's it....they're house trained. I still like dogs better tho.Anyway, back to baseball. The Tigers finish the month of June with a record of 15-12...not too bad. If you look closely you'll see the majority of those wins came early in the month, and against 3 weak teams during a homestand. Now it's back to Comerica, where the Bengals are 25-11 this season. The Seattle Mariners come to town for a 4-game series with the Tigs....and just like Detroit, the Mariners are putrid on the road with a 13-27 record. There's good news and bad news in terms of the pitchers Seattle will be using. Again the Tigers will avoid Felix Hernandez...but will see Cliff Lee on Sunday. Lee is red hot, coming off 3 straight complete games. Who does that anymore??? If you want to talk hot....there is still Brennan Boesch, who in June hit .340, with 8 home runs and 23 RBI's in 26 games.
