Improve Teen Sleep Habits
Can't get your teen out of bed in the morning? Make a few adjustments in their bedrooms and in their daily routine to see if they wake up rested and ready to tackle the new day.
At bedtime, their rooms need to be free of cell phones, tablets and computers. Explain that the bright light coming from their electronics makes their body think it's still day time.
Mention that when they're sleep deprived, they could accidentally send an embarrassing text message! OMG!
Ideally, teens should do their homework on a computer that is in another room.
Their rooms need to be for sleeping.
If your teens drink sodas, energy or coffee drinks they need to cut the caffeine after 12 o'clock so their bodies have time to metabolize the caffeine by bedtime.
Turn off the technology an hour before lights out and choose a quiet relaxing activity to wind down, like reading.
