New Directors Join SME Education Foundation Board: David P. Bozeman, vice president of Caterpillar Inc.'s Integrated Manufacturing Division in Peoria, Ill., has been named to the 2011 board of directors of the SME Education Foundation. Bozeman joins four directors named this fall serving a two-year term beginning Jan. 1. The new division has responsibility for Caterpillar's core North American manufacturing operations in East Peoria, Decatur and Aurora, Ill,; Monterrey and Torreon, Mexico; Peterlee, United Kingdom and Thiruvallur, India. He was named to lead this new division June 1. Before that, he was vice president of Caterpillar's Core Components Division. Bozeman is a member of the board of directors for Caterpillar's China Machinery Components Co. and Advanced Filtration Systems, Inc. He also serves on Bradley University's Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Advisory Board. A native of Chicago, Bozeman holds a bachelor of science degree in manufacturing engineering technology and mechanical design from Bradley University and a master of science degree in engineering management from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Other new directors are Ashok Agrawal, M.S., P.E., dean of the math, science, engineering and technology division at St. Louis Community College in Florissant Valley, Mo. and director of the Emerson Center for Engineering and Manufacturing; Kathy Burnham, senior vice president of Padilla Speer Beardsley, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minn., a provider of marketing communications; and Mike Schmidt, director of education and community development at the Ford Motor Company Fund in Dearborn, who oversees Ford's major national partnerships with public K-12 education which includes the Henry Ford Academy and the Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies, as well as the company's relationships with colleges and universities; and Susan E. Shimoyama, vice president of global sales operations, Rockwell Automation, Milwaukee, Wis. The foundation's board members, representing business, industry and academia, were selected based on their involvement and commitment to issues critical to preparing the next generation for tech-based careers in a global economy.
