Hullabaloo In Howell Neighborhood Over New Sidewalk

HOWELL (AP) - A Michigan woman says a sidewalk that was built in front of her home doesn't lead anywhere and is causing problems.

WHMI-FM reports Tracey Shapter of Howell told City Council on Monday night that she got a warning from police for parking across the sidewalk, which was built during city street improvements.

The sidewalk prevents her from using some previous driveway space and ends at a fence near a school in the city about 45 miles northwest of Detroit. The station reports people must step on Shapter's property to get to the sidewalk.

Shapter says she wants permission to park in her own driveway.

City Council told its staff to come up with ideas to deal with the issue and hold off on any enforcement actions for now.
