Goat Found Gutted, Burned In Apparent Ritualistic Sacrifice

DETROIT (WWJ) - A gutted and burned goat was found near the Russell Industrial Center on Detroit's east side in what some believe was a satanic sacrifice.

The dead goat was discovered Monday by three employees at the industrial center, on Clay Street near I-75.

According to reports, the goat appears to have been gutted and set on fire. The charred remains were found in a lot between the complex and a vacant restaurant. An empty container of lighter fluid was left behind at the scene.

White chalk circles were drawn around the goat, which had a rope around its neck, leading the workers to believe some type of satanic ritual might have taken place. The goat appears to have been young, perhaps a baby.

The workers say they called 911 and Detroit Animal Control, but both reportedly refused to investigate the situation.

Police eventually checked out the scene late Monday after being contacted by a news crew, according to reports. However, the carcass remained on the scene as of Tuesday morning, covered in a blue sheet, under a broken shopping cart.

The Michigan Human Society's animal cruelty unit also checked out the scene and said they would assist Detroit Animal Control, which appears to be handling the investigation.

Police have yet to comment on the discovery.
