Get To The Top Of the Mac With MDOT

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) are giving social media users an opportunity to tour the top of the Mackinac Bridge.

The two agencies are asking people to share on social media their Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk experiences.

Through Sept. 8, the public can post their memories of walking the bridge, from either this year or a previous year, on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #MightyMacWalk14.

Photo or video memories of the walk can also can be posted on MDOT's Facebook page.

One person who shared their memories on social media will randomly be chosen to tour the top of the Mackinac Bridge, which is 522 feet above the water.

A free gift pack of Pure Michigan merchandise donated by the Michigan Economic Development Corp. will be awarded to the person who travels the furthest to walk the bridge this year and shares their memory with MDOT.

MDOT employees and their families are not eligible for either prize, but can still participate.
