Gas prices down 15 cents a gallon in Michigan as compared to last week
Gas prices in Michigan are down 15 cents a gallon as compared to a week ago, according to a pricing report from AAA-The Auto Club Group.
Michigan drivers are paying an average $3.08 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, which is down 15 cents from last week but 8 cents more than this time last month. The price is 62 cents less than this time last year.
At that pricing, a 15-gallon tank of gas costs $46.
Gasoline demand has decreased, as have the gasoline supply and gasoline production, the report said. At 442.3 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 5% below the five-year average for this time of year.
"Motorists across Michigan are seeing much lower prices at the pump this week," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. "If demand continues to drop, alongside lower crude oil prices, gas prices may follow suit."
Metro Detroit's current average gasoline price is $3.11 per gallon. Ann Arbor has the most expensive gas in Michigan this week with an average cost of $3.16 a gallon and Traverse City has the least expensive at an average cost of $2.97 a gallon.
