Flint Neurosurgery Institute Opens Public Electric Car Charging Stations

FLINT -- Insight Institute of Neurosurgery & Neuroscience said Tuesday that it has opened two electric car charging stations.

These stations can be used to charge batteries for the Chevrolet Volt and other plug-in hybrid or all-electric vehicles, with each station providing power at 120 volts and 16 amps, or 208-240 volts and 30 amps.

In support of efforts to build the electric vehicle infrastructure in Michigan, current usage, for a limited time, is free of charge.

The stations can be accessed via IINN's Hemphill Road entrance, and the street address is 4500 S. Saginaw St., Flint.

Owners of EVs, or anyone who is interested, can download a ChargePoint App from www.chargepointportal.net/index.php/authz/login.html. The app will provide real-time status of charging stations, track an EV's charging progress, and can be used to make reservations from Android, iPhone, and Blackberry devices. The same link can be used to log into the ChargePoint Network, and to see an interactive map that locates charging stations across the United States.

IINN encourages the use of all-electric and hybrid electric vehicles, and the necessary development of a national charging network, to address a variety of interests.

The Insight Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroscience, founded Jan 1, 2008, includes physicians in neurosurgery, neurological intervention, and complementary disciplines, along with a physical therapy and rehabilitation center, diagnostic imaging, and a large number of associate physicians in the local community. In addition, the company hosts internal research projects, a business incubator and a clinical research center, and offers grand rounds, lectures, journal clubs, job shadowing, clinical residencies, and intern/externships, as well as innovative business training for medical personnel through its educational program, IINNovation.
