Ex-teacher Convicted Of Sex With Teen Gets Prison
A former Garden City High School teacher convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old student has been sentenced to 10-25 years in prison.
Virginia Ann Homberg on Friday also was sentenced in Wayne County Circuit Court to 3-15 years to be served concurrently on two lesser charges.
An all-female jury last month convicted Homberg of one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Prosecutors say Homberg singled out the boy because he was a special education student. Homberg's attorney Shannon Smith has said the student initially denied the two had sexual relations.
