Have the Next Big Idea? Join Thumb Boost: If you've got an idea for a business and you're in the Thumb, consider making a presentation at Boost Marlette Monday, May 21. The event will take place from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Thumb Works Marlette, 3270 Wilson St. Organizers say Boost is a kinder version of "Shark Tank," without the cameras and commercials. Each of 15 presenters will have two minutes to present their idea, without slides, to a board of expert judges for valuable feedback. Two winners will be selected based on the most popular vote of the judges and the support folks in the audience. The two winners will be invited to stay for dinner with the judges' panel and will be invited to present at a future BlueWater Angel dinner. The BlueWater Angels is a group of private individuals who invest in startup and growing businesses all around Michigan.
