Industry Expert to Explain the Details of Updates in Certification: Auburn Hills-based Plex Systems Inc., provider of Plex Online, the leading enterprise food safety management system, today announced a webinar called "Ensure Readiness for SQF Changes," taking place on May 1 at 1 p.m. Eastern time. The newly released SQF Edition 7 has several new requirements and changes that apply to all sectors of the food industry. Food processors and manufacturers must move quickly to understand and prepare for upgrades in order to be compliant for audits conducted after July 1, 2012. Jeff Chilton, president of Chilton Consulting Group, is a certified SQF consultant and auditor, and a certified lead instructor for HACCP training. He will discuss the changes in Edition 7 to the SQF certification standards and provide guidance on achieving and maintaining SQF certification. In this timely webinar, attendees will learn the new requirements in Edition 7 and ways to avoid the consequences of noncompliance. Attendees also will gain insight into changes beyond the new "Code Change Map."

Small biz workshop featuring government contracts and upcoming workload: The Society of American Military Engineers is hosting an all-day small business workshop focusing on federal small business programs, the value of teaming with large businesses and upcoming local small business contracting opportunities. The 2012 Small Business Workshop will be held April 25, at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Small Business Administration and SAME along with many participants from private industry and other government agencies will highlight local small business contracting opportunities, including 2012 contract opportunities with government agencies. The tenth annual event, which is open to all businesses, will highlight contract opportunities with government agencies, and demonstrate how businesses register for government contracts. This workshop is also a networking opportunity for small businesses looking to partner with large corporations that already have government contracts.
