DSO Conductor Takes Over In Chicago For 2 Dates
DETROIT (WWJ) The conductor of the striking Detroit Symphony Orchestra will help lead the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's upcoming performances after Chicago's music director Riccardo Muti fainted during rehearsal and was hospitalized.
Orchestra association President Deborah Rutter says the 69-year-old Muti was stable and talking late Thursday afternoon. She says he suffered a lacration near his jaw when he fell.
DSO conductor Leonard Slatkin took over performances Thursday evening and will lead the orchestra for a Friday afternoon performance.
