Detroit Mayor Released From Hospital
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has been released from the hospital.
The mayor had been at Henry Ford Hospital for more than a week following surgery to correct a perforated colon.
The mayor's office said in a statement Bing will recuperate at home and is expected to be out of the office for approximately three weeks.
Bing's illness comes at an inopportune time as Detroit struggles to make a deal with the state to handle the city's finances. The Detroit City Council could vote on that agreement soon and if it doesn't pass Gov. Rick Snyder could be forced to appoint an emergency manager.
The city is expected to run out of money within weeks.
