DETROIT (WWJ) - Some Detroit firefighters are betting on the Tigers. As WWJ's Vickie Thomas reports, they're putting down an interesting wager with their counterparts in Dallas.
Detroit's Engine 44 has a T-shirt bet going with Engine 44 in Dallas. Captain Michael Jefferson watched the Tigers knock out New York and he's betting that the home team will wreck the Rangers' chances of moving on.
Jefferson said he is thrilled with the Tigers' post-season progress this year.
"You know, playing against the Yankees was a nail biter and it was stressful, but I knew they were gonna pull it out," Johnson said.
"They're destined. They have the best pitching, Jose Valverde, you just can't deny it, with 52 of 52 save opportunities. We had the role players come through, Don Kelly. You just can't second guess Jim Leyland. He's an awesome coach and he's got us where we need to be," he continued.
