Detroit City Council Says No To Water And Sewer Rate Hike
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit City Council has voted against a water and sewer rate hike that was proposed by the Water and Sewerage Department.
The 6-to-2 vote took place Tuesday evening after council members found out that the average consumer would pay about 64 more per year.
Residents would have seen their water bill go up about $5 a month. Water officials will reconvene on Wednesday to determine what's next to deal with a nearly $27 million dollar shortfall.
