Around 12 p.m. Thursday, the news the city of Detroit had been waiting finally broke: the Detroit Lions fired their GM Martin Mayhew and team president Tom Lewand.
Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate decided to post to Twitter moments after the announcement with a combination of emojis.
Former Detroit Lions DE Lawrence Jackson also was quick to post to Twitter about the firing.
These are strong words coming from a former player under Mayhew and Lewand.
