Pink Slips Doled Out At Crittenton Hospital To Staff And Patient Care Workers

ROCHESTER (WWJ) - A local hospital announces layoffs to their staff and patient care workers.

Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester sent out notices to an undisclosed number of employees at both their Rochester main campus and off-site clinics.

Crittenton's marketing director Brian Birney says they've been trying to put together programs to reduce the total cost of care.

"We've tried to postion ourselves to be among the most efficient and high quality hosptial in the area," said Birney. "And these reductions are part of this current innitiative."

Birney says it's part of a plan that been in the making for some time.

The layoffs are described as an administrative decision.

"It was something in the making for sometime, especially with the current financial status we were under and changes in health care - it's part of a bigger initive - to make us financially stable this is just one of the statagies we are putting in place," said Birney.

Crittenton's new CEO Roy Powell started the job July 1.

Crittenton employs about 1,500 at its Rochester main campus and off-site clinics.
