Cranbrook Institute Shows Off New Observatory
BLOOMFIELD HILLS (WWJ/AP) - Cranbrook Institute of Science is offering visitors opportunities to view its new observatory.
The museum, located on Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Hills, says the observatory "offers access to the only research-grade telescopes regularly open to the public in the Midwest."
It features three new telescopes, an architectural redesign, upgrades in the viewing space and a new dome.
The observatory will be open during expanded hours for daytime tours Wednesday through Dec. 29, and for nighttime viewing Friday and Dec. 29.
