City Having Trouble Keeping Garbage Trucks Operational For Trash Pick-Up
DETROIT (WWJ) - Trash day in some Detroit neighborhoods is turning into a multi-day event.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Florence Walton explains that first it was the buses, and now mechanical problems are causing a slow down in the weekly trash pick-up in Detroit.
The City Ombudsman Durene Brown says they've been getting a lot of complaints about trash being picked up at night or a day late.
"The mayor's office actually, we were told that there is a deficiency in the cross-training of mechanics for buses and garbage trucks," said Brown.
Brown said mechanics who had exclusively worked on buses are now being trained to repair garbage trucks.
