Chicago Tribune Article Calls Jim Harbaugh 'Nixonian'

If you have listened to 97.1 The Ticket the last two days, then you have heard about the story of Erik Swenson who said his offer was pulled by Michigan after being verbally committed to the school for two years.

The topic has been widely discussed -- talk was about if this was the right move by Harbaugh and the school, or if they should have honored Swenson's scholarship. That's for you to decide.

The Chicago Tribune has apparently heard enough and wrote an article titled, "Ethics no obstacle to Michigan's Jim Harbaugh dumping verbal commits."

Erik Swenson talked with the Tribune, and he says that a month ago Michigan offensive coordinator Tim Drevno told him, "Get ready to play for us." Then last week the school told him to "open his recruitment."

That's not when the story stops though.

Here are some of the more scathing excerpts:

I'll give Harbaugh this: He is making a mockery of a system that is already a joke. "Committing" to a school does not mean you're committed until the fax comes through on national signing day in early February.

The irony here is that Harbaugh is such a brilliant coach he probably could go .500 in the Big Ten with Western Michigan's roster. But he's greedy. He's Nixonian.

When Swenson called Tuesday, he said Drevno told him there were "no spots left." He said he asked to speak with Harbaugh but "he didn't want to talk to me."

Harbaugh did put out this cryptic tweet:

Whether you're a Michigan fan, Michigan State fan or just a fan of college football do you have a problem with how this situation was handled?
