CDC Offers 'Get Fit' Guidelines

Pat Sweeting Reporting

How much exercise is right for your age group?  Well, obviously, the answer will depend on your current state of health. So, before you launch into any fitness program, talk to a health care professional who can help you plan an exercise routine.

Also, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Physical Activity Guidelines can give you a better idea of how to build-up to a more challenging fitness regimen. The guidelines are broken down into three categories:  6-to-17 years of age, 18-to-64 years of age and 65 years of age and older.

One recommendation is to undertake at least 2-and-a-half hours of moderate intensity aerobic activity (like brisk-walking) each week and build from there.

The CDC tells us that some physical activity is better than none at all for maintaining your health.
