Brighton Street Art Fair kicks off on Friday for another year

There's just about every kind of artist and artwork people can imagine in Brighton, Michigan, at the third annual street art fair.

"There's a little bit of everything: jewelry, ceramics, photography, we've got leather," said Allison Neal, who serves as senior director of marketing for the Guild of Artists and Artisans.

Neal works on the Brighton Street Art Fair and on fairs across the state, such as the Ann Arbor Art Fair. She said even if you don't have a huge budget, you can find something to bring home from this weekend's fair.

"Different price points, you can get an original painting that could cost upwards in the thousands, or you can get just a little wallet that would be like $30 there's a little bit for everyone," she said.

Neal explained that artists can apply to show their work at one of the Guild's fairs, and a panel of other artists typically decides whether to allow a booth. The fair is open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

"I will mention we've got live music, the Brighton Guild is out here doing art activities with the kids, so you can get involved with that, and then on Saturday, we also have the kids' art fair where kids will be selling some artwork as well," she said.
