Boil Water Advisory Issued For Parts Of Oxford Township

OXFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A precautionary boil water advisory has been posted for parts of Oxford Township.

The Oakland County Water Resource Commission issued the advisory after a water main burst on Drahner Road at Newman Tuesday morning.

Crews are currently trying to repair the water main. The advisory is expected to remain in effect until Thursday.

Customers who get their water from the Oxford Township water system are in a boundary south of Golf Villa, east of Sanders, north of the Orion/Oxford Township boundary and west of south Lapeer Road. Residents in the Hills of Oxford are also advised to boil their water.

Residents may also be experiencing low water pressure due to the water main break.

At this time, no actual contamination has been detected within the water system. However, as a precautionary measure, all water customers in the affected area are advised to boil all water used for drinking and cooking. Drinking water should be boiled for at least five minutes and allowed to cool before consumption. An alternative is to use bottled water for drinking and cooking.

Residents will be notified when the boil water advisory has ended.
