Bobb Ready To Resume Testifying

Emergency financial manager Robert Bobb says he's set to resume testimony in a Detroit Board of Education civil suit.

Bobb says he's scheduled to testify Thursday afternoon before Wayne County Circuit Judge Wendy Baxter.

The elected board sued Bobb last summer. It says he's taking academic control of the district, even though Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm appointed him in March 2009 to fix its finances.

The board says Bobb should needed its consent before ordering textbooks, administering tests and planning to create retention programs for students.

Bobb testified Friday that academic decisions he's made also are part of his financial goal. He says he's working to close a budget deficit of more than $300 million.
