Bill's Blog: Stop Playing With Your Food

Back when we were kids, if mom or dad were going to fire up the grill and make hamburgers and hot dogs that was our idea of the perfect summer day. Didn't matter if it was at Stoney Creek Metro Park or in our screened-in porch in Warren. Throw in some Better Made potato Chips and some Faygo Rock and Rye and us kids were happy little rug rats.

Fast forward to 2011 and very possibly the dumbest product ever made...

Let me introduce you to The Happy Hot Dog Man. A plastic contraption in which you place a frankfurter, close the top and create cuts in the hot dog to make a mouth, arms and legs. You then boil, microwave or grill the mangled wiener and the hot dog is now a hot dog person. You can also dress up your new friend with cheese bow ties, relish necklaces and ketchup shirts. The ad claims to make "food fun". Who decided that every facet of a kid's life has to be non-stop entertainment...Just eat your damn food!
